Carolyn Pearce Home Sweet Home workbox 36: all the ‘smalls’ completed!

I first started to make the sewing accessories for Carolyn Pearce’s Home Sweet Home etui set in July 2014 – that’s quite a long time ago, now! And here are all the pieces that will fit inside the house itself (which is the next thing on my list…). There are nine accessories altogether:

Smalls 1

Don’t they look great, all collected together?

As they are not usually photographed from ’round the back’, as it were, here are the sides that you don’t usually see:

Smalls 2

Although they have taken months to do, I am very pleased with how they have turned out, and now I want to get on with making the house-shaped box that they will fit into.

The designs are from Carolyn Pearce’s book ‘Home Sweet Home; an embroidered workbox’. It is out of print almost everywhere at the moment (2016), but is apparently being reprinted, so check Amazon and the publisher’s website for updates.

  1. I do enjoy your posts and am looking forward to your work on the box. There are 5 of us here in central Pennsylvania who will be starting this project this Spring. I have shared your posts with them. We are all members of the York White Rose Chapter of The Embroiderer’s Guild of America, Inc. (EGA) We were going to start with the box, but I think your idea to start with the smalls would be better. Thank you for the great job you have done with this project and for sharing with us. You have given us the courage to stitch one for ourselves.

  2. What a gorgeous set! You must be so pleased. I’ve really enjoyed following along with you on this set, and can’t wait to see the house. I bought the book years ago and you’re tempting me to get it out and make some of the pieces.

  3. What an achievement … it’s lovely to see all the accessories together at last! I love how the embroidery is unique on each little piece, but coordinated across the set. Beautiful! 🙂

  4. I am in a group and we have finished all the accessories. We have the roof and completed and will start the house . It has been 2 1/2 years in the making.

  5. Beautiful work Janet. I admire your tenacity to completely finish all the smalls in this project! I love that you also showed us the backs so we could see all the details in the design. I started pondering whether this pattern might be for me…..and then slapped my hand away. But one can never tell!
